Lee Williams Supermoto Update - Round 2
Thursday, May 10, 2012
Hi all, here is our race update from round 2 at Rednal Raceway in Oswestry.
With it being on the bank holiday we had racing on the Sunday and Monday.
Sunday was the 450 Elite, the day was dry, out for qualifying we were struggling for a pace and managed a 10th place spot on the grid, which unfortunately set the theme for the day.
We couldn’t get to grips with the track and we were not happy with the condition and lay out, which really didn’t inspire confidence.
The days racing didn’t particularly go well, so on the Sunday night we thought we would get out with some of the other riders and go paint balling, which indeed put the smiles back on our faces.
After an un-inspired day in the 450 Elite on Sunday for the Open Elite we tried some different settings which gave us a better set up for qualifying and placed us 3rd on the grid.
Despite feeling more confident with the bike for the Monday and battling harder than we did on the Sunday, the track proved very tricky to overtake on, going off the racing line only put us in danger of crashing with the condition that the track was in, so the weekends racing was more about consolidating points.
Not the race report we would have like to have written but unfortunately not a popular track for us.
Roll on the next round at Blyton Park on the 2/3rd June.
On a lighter note we have just confirmed our entry for Thundersport at Oulton Park on 25/26th May in the 600 Class, this will be our first proper road race meeting on a 600.
So watch this space.
Regards
Team Willo
